Friday Hunt, 2016.2-6
It is Friday, and the day for a favorite meme, Friday Hunt, kindly hosted by Teresa. The examples have been noted and the photo archives checked and I am ready:
Starts with E. I have three unique examples that exemplify the letter. On top is a Villers family pic, that being Easter Sunday 1969, and we lived in East Hartford, CT (check out the styles of the day, especially the hair :)
A ‘gunsight’ fender ornament on a 1959 Edsel Corsair - in 1960, its failure caused Ford Motor Co. to lose $250 million, about $2.3 billion (!) in today's money...
Another example, an Egg in the shape of an Elipse
Week's Favorite, which is groundhog that found our patio in this grainy pic (taken though a window and screen). Why he/she was in a suburban neighborhood? Perhaps lured by our mulberry tree…
Bounce. This is an inflatable bounce house/slide at a June street fair in our neighbor to the north, Seymour CT. These items made for another great hunt this week!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Derby Green Market
In our neighboring city of Derby CT, there is a new farm market on the green, once a week. On the traditional and hilly New England park, I looked around for subjects for this week's Shadow Shot Sunday 2. And I located a few, and they include vendor test, the town gazebo, a restaurant chef cooking and what I believe to be the ultimate BLT sandwich - all leaving unique and perhaps tasty shadows...

Friday Hunt, 2016.2-5
It is Friday, and Teresa is back with her fun meme, Friday Hunt. The clues this week are here, and I am happy to comply with these unique items. So I am ready :)
Starts with 'D'. I am going with my main form of ambulation, my trusty 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. With its Braun conversion, it allows travel for mysel and my wheelchair. So my entry is my steed, the top pic being taken on Wednesday in Ansonia. Here, it looks as innocuous as any Dodge Minivan. However, I am also adding the ramp sequence as it deploys (i.e.: opens). The pics were taken in 2010 - but the process remains as is...

Week's Favorite. Here is the new playground at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation. After the old playground had to be demolished in April due to its structural degradation (built in 1993), a number of volunteer efforts helped to begin the construction of a new playground. The main benefactor was the Seymour CT based Basement Systems, whose CEO and employees financed the project and volunteered their time and paid for the materials along with the efforts of the local United Way's corporate volunteer council - and completed on Sunday. There are grant applications to add the ADA features of ramps and such. We covered the story in our Valley-Voice newsletter yesterday...
Summer or Winter. Given that the heat dome that has plagued the midwest is shifting east toward New England today, I chose Winter, this view taken out the front door on 27 January 2011. I now feel cooler...

Wordless Wednesday - The warmth of the sun way back when
Going through some old files I found this web preserved print from the summer of 1998. The sunflowers next to the split-rail fence were the ideal yard decorations of our then next-door neighbor. Alas, times change, people move and sunflowers wither away...See more WW here...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Ansonia traveling Marketplace
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is here and we take you back to Wednesday and the first installment of the Ansonia Traveling Marketplace. The event this week was at Hilltop Hose Fire Company, a mere mile from home. Shown this week are a few vendor displays that showcase shadows on a warm and sultry evening. Colorful, artistic, and stylish!

Friday Hunt, 2016.2-3
Starts with C. That is of course, our now software developer son Cameron. Before he read code, here being at almost age 3 and almost age 9 a cute kid. I have not seen a pair of Mickey's since :)
August 1999, almost age 9, Mystic Marinelife Aquarium CT |
June 1993, almost age 3, Ansonia, CT |

Unique Perspective. This is a pic the always lovely Patti captured earlier in a local art gallery. She is looking down at me looking at the checkerboard floor. Unique to say the least, it is my current FB profile picture…

SOOC - Colorful aftermath at the winery
We look for pictures in any venue and do not always find them. However many a great shot appears to us and beckons our capture. Such as this. Last week, after an event at the Jones Family Winery in the White Hills of Shelton CT, this appeared after the rain stopped and the sun began, a double rainbow appeared over the barns. Not only are their wined wonderful, the sky this way was too - a nice subject for Straight out of the Camera, SOOC...
Shadow Shot Sunday - Shadowy ad reflective concert venue
For today's Shadow Shot Sunday 2 I revert to Wednesday and the first of the Summer concert series in Veteran's Park next to Ansonia city hall. Being the chairman of the sponsor Ansonia Cultural Commission, I arrived early to welcome the musicians and perhaps capture a shadow on a warm and beautiful evening.
On top are two monuments in the park that are draped sun and shadow. Below the, it is a pic of the local band All Funk'd Up taken with my cheap point-and-shoot. Look carefully - the reflective photographer is captured unaware. The unplanned always makes for an interesting photo shoot!
Below is a vid I captured with the aforementioned cheap camera. It is not too pixelated, but if not looking that great, one can enjoy the 1978 song Boogie, Oogie, Oogie by a Taste of Honey...

Friday Hunt, 2016.2-2
It is again Friday, and Teresa's fun meme Friday Hunt is back. I think I cam meet the he choices this week, in my own unique way...I hope :)
Starts with B. For the letter 'B' I have many a choice, and in honor of our boy/son Cameron (more of a 'C') who lives in one of the five boroughs of New York City, that being the Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn. Pics captured in 2013, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and the infamous traffic clogged I-278 BQE...

Week's Favorite. Patti purchased a cheap grilling basket at Rite-Aid recently. It is a week's favorite as we prepared veggies (carrots, yellow squash, red onions and an orange bell pepper, all grilled over charcoal. Tasty and colorful!
Patriotic. I am using the monuments in Veteran's Park outside of City Hall in our small burg of Ansonia CT. Taken on Veterans Day 2014.

Shadow Shot Sunday - Bike festival
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 arrives a week after last Saturday's Pierre Lallement Bicycle Festival on Main Street in our small city of Ansonia. Who was Lallement? He was a Frenchman who lived in Ansonia and is credited with inventing the pedal bicycle in Ansonia, the patent issued in 1866. Thus for the 150th anniversary, a festival was held. It was a glorious day and shadows were plenty.
There were BMX stunt riders, antique bicycles, quality food and craft vendors, a big bike ride for New Haven with lots of riders and, of course, shadows. It was a fun day under the sun!

Friday Hunt, 2016.2-1
Well, we begin the alphabet anew at Teresa's fun meme, Friday Hunt. The first clue this week is Starts with A. I have three ‘A’ subjects this week that work (I think), in order:
- Allegra, our daughter. Here is in 1989 at our apartment in Derby, CT is the less than one-year old with her mom. The pacifier sees to be of more interest to her than the photographer…
- Angelino’s restaurant (excellent :) in Vernon, CT, the name resplendent in red neon!
- Ansonia, our small city of 19,000 in southern CT. It is about 85 miles/137 km northeast of Midtown Manhattan, New York City
